GAY CULTURAL AND COMMUNITY CENTER TO GLF TO SPONSOR SECOND GAY DANCE ON

OPEN IN COLUMBUS

SIR of Ohio is moving ahead with plans to open the Columbus Gay Cultural and Community Center in the downtown area. Negotiations are now underway to rent space on East Spring Street. Tom Lewis of SIR says he hopes to be able to open the Center sometime between the first and the middle of August. If the Spring Street space is not available, Tom hopes to get an alternative location in the downtown gay-bar area.

The Center should be able to open as soon as the first and last months rent, plus a deposit ($400 in all), is available. Individuals and establishments can help in the effort by sending donations to:

Specify that the money is for the GCCC, and make checks payable to either."SIR of Ohio" or "GLF of Columbus" If you don't have the guts to send. a check, send cash-or hand it to a member of GLF!

Help Will Be Needed

Once the GCCC is open, lots of help will be needed. Tom wants the Center to be staffed 7 days a week from 1 PM until midnight.

All kinds of activities will be going on at the Center, including gay films, dances, meetings, parties,

and educational functions. The atmosphere will be coffeehouse type.

First Columbus Gay Wedding

SATURDAY, JULY 24th

The Gay Liberation Front of Columbus is making arrangements for its second gay dance of the summer. The dance will be held at the First Unitarian Church of Columbus, 93 West Weisheimer Road (see map below), from 10:00 PM until 1:00 AM. All members of the gay community are cordially invited to attend.

While plans are as yet incomplete, the date and place are firm. Most important now is the need for HELP!! If you have a little time to give to the cause of gay liberation, PLEASE call your dedicated and overworked coordinator, Jeff Arnold, at 464-0333 NOW. Even if you will have time only to clean up after the dance, your help will be appreciated.

A Busy Weekend

The GLF dance will be only one of several important activities on the weekend of July 24th and 25th. Aside from the Kismet Picnic, which should attract thousands of gays from. throughout the Midwest, GLF and SIR are planning a march to the State House on Saturday, the 24th, in supof human rights for homosexuals. We are at present negotiating with the powers that be for a parade permit. The application for the permit was submitted yesterday (July 15th), but as yet there was no reply. Permission for parades are usually given automatically. Another example of blatant discrimination against gays in the All-American Kingdom of Sensenbrenner and his corrupt lackeys.

Despite the "honorable" mayor's vow that "no homosexual organization will be given a permit to parade, demonstrate, or picket""in Columbus, there will be a parade, even if it has to be a sidewalk parade.. (Even homosexuals have the right to walk on the sidewalk!) In the meantime,

Gay artists and craftsmen from throughout Ohio have been invited to display their work at the Center. Oil paintings, etc., have already been promised,
